How
I Work
If you work with me on your thesis or
dissertation, as long as you are willing and do the work,
YOU WILL FINISH. I have a 100% completion rate of people who have hired me to help them through the process. You will find the clarity you need, your paper or papers will read well and fit APA style. You will find yourself gaining confidence and skills that you can carry forward with you into other areas of your life.
You will find yourself working with less stress and more enthusiasm.
Guiding beliefs and values
Your completion of the process, the thesis, or the dissertation and defense is assumed as a reality. My focus is to help you embody that reality. Your celebration of your accomplishment when it is finished is the demonstration of that reality.
Positive attitude is necessary, willingness to grow and change is necessary, and hard work is necessary to accomplish your goals. However, even all 3 of them together are not sufficient to accomplish your goals. Much more goes into both hindrances and completion, within and around each person, than is usually acknowledged by others who made it through the process. I listen carefully and fully to what is said and what has not been said to articulate for you what has seemed hidden so that we can work with it and get past it.
My Approach
I respond quickly.
I make myself accessible via phone and email most of the time, and my response time is quick. Rarely does my response take longer than 24 hours.
I’m flexible. It is important to work with you in frameworks that work best for both of us. I can work in person in the greater Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA metro area. I can work via phone and email. Some of our exchanges, if you want me to review and edit documents, can be via the post office.
I’m clear on what I can do and the time frames we need. I make sure you know my availability so that our work together can flow in the most efficient, effective way possible. I am also clear on the cost and the payment arrangements that we work out. If anything needs re-negotiating, I let you know up front.
I’m process oriented. My goal is to help you figure out, or if you already know, to work best in your own style to accomplish your best work with your most effective strategies. This means
I listen well and carefully, and ask questions. When what you need is clarification, focus, or helping yourself get past the stuck places, I excel in these areas.
I’m good at taking in information, sifting, synthesizing and making sense of it, and feeding it back to you in an understandable and helpful way.
I don’t impose on you a formula I have come up with. I help you figure out and work with your own best strategies to accomplish the goal or goals you have. When there are gaps in your knowledge of things that you need in order to work effectively, I can fill those in for you. When you have me review writing of yours, or help you polish and smooth your writing, you know that the finished piece will be the piece you really wanted to write and turn in, saying what you really wanted it to say in a way that it can be acknowledged as scholarly work, acceptable for completion of your degree.
What makes me and my services different
Several things make my services as a thesis and dissertation coach different. I understand the passion that can be part of this work. I help you put that passion into a context that works both for you and your faculty assessors. I can teach you to use simple energy healing techniques that really work to help you increase your effectiveness.
Because I focus on getting to know you and your
project, I tailor our approach to what works best for
you, and what will best get your project across, demonstrating scholarly competency. I don’t do this work because of years of experience, though I have that.
I do this work because I love it and it comes naturally to
me. I love acting as catalyst and facilitator for the transformation that comes from
you completing your graduate degree.
